MP3 Album Art (Cover Image) Not Displayed in Explorer Preview Pane?

MP3 files can contain embedded album art, which is displayed in the File Explorer Preview Pane as well as Details pane by default. If it’s not displayed in your system, this may be because you disabled the thumbnail view in Folder Options Control Panel.

  • In File Explorer, click the View tab, and click Options.
  • Uncheck Always show icons, never thumbnails, and click OK.

This should show the album art in the Preview Pane or in the Details Pane, whichever is enabled.

  1. I have done the above but album art is still not being displayed in thumbnails. Any other suggestions. Running Windows 10.

  2. In my case Album cover is shown for mp3 files in folders which are not synced by Onedrive. But in folders which are synced by Onedrive the album covers are not shown. It looks as if they were deleted but they still there: when you move the file outside of Onedrive, album cover is visible again…
    Why is Onedrive doing that?
