Windows 11 24H2 has a bug wherein the menu shows upwards, thus hidden from the viewport when the window is in a maximized state. This occurs when you click on the ellipsis icon (the button with three dots). It’s supposed to show the dropdown menu instead of upwards. This bug hasn’t been fixed at least until build 26100.3037.

Cause
This seems to happen due to the undocumented feature ID 51960011 (FileExplorerTabLineFix) enabled by default in 24H2.
Workaround
Until Microsoft fixes this issue in 24H2, you can turn off the feature ID 51960011 to prevent this issue.
- Download ViveTools from GitHub:
https://github.com/thebookisclosed/ViVe/releases - Unzip and extract the contents to a folder – e.g., C:\ViVeTool.
- Open the admin Command Prompt
- Change to the folder that contains ViVeTool.exe. You can do so by running the following command:
cd /d C:\ViVeTool
- Run the following command:
vivetool.exe /disable /id:51960011
- Restart Windows.
The ellipsis (“…”) menu should now open downwards.
Also, please report this bug in the Feedback Hub (Win + F) so Microsoft can address this issue quickly.

Many thanks. Fix worked a treat. Strange, defect doesn’t seem to affect all devices running this build. My problem was with 24H2 running on an ASUS Vivobook. As requested have flagged defect via Windows Feeback.
