When you open Settings, click System, and click on “About”, the Settings app closes automatically and generates an error report.

However, you may be able to access other pages in your Settings app. Only when accessing the “About” page causes the crash.
Cause
This happens if the AppX Deployment Service (AppXSVC) is disabled.
Resolution
To fix the problem, enable the “AppX Deployment Service (AppXSVC)” service. This service’s startup option would be grayed out usually. Follow these steps to enable the service.
- Start the Registry Editor (
regedit.exe
) - Go to the following branch:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AppXSvc
- Double-click “
Start
” and set its data to3
.
(Note: Start type: 3 means “Manual” start.) - Exit the Registry Editor.
- Restart Windows.
You should now be able to access the Settings → System → About page now. Note that you can also access this page using the Win + Pause/Break key combination.
Additional Information
You can add the OEM information to the System → About page. For more information, see the article How to Add OEM Information and Logo on the About page. The About page shows your OS version (and the bitness) and basic hardware specifications.
