What is MicrosoftSecurityApp.exe

MicrosoftSecurityApp.exe (located under “c:\program files\windowsapps\”) is a legit program found on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems. MicrosoftSecurityApp.exe is part of the Microsoft Defender store app below.

The Microsoft Defender app is available exclusively with a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription. The app may exist on your system even though you didn’t install it manually. To get more details about the Defender app package, run the following command in admin PowerShell:
