When you open Network Connections folder in your Windows computer, the folder may be completely blank. In some cases the following error may show up:
The Network Connections Folder was unable to retrieve the list of Network adapters on your machine.
Please make sure that the Network Connections service is enabled and running.
And when you try to start the Network Connections service, error
1083 shows up. Here is the full error message:
Windows could not start the Network Connections service on Local Computer.
Error 1083: The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service.
Fix Network Connections Service (Netman) Error 1083
To resolve Network Connections service error 1083, use these steps:
Reset Network Connections Service Registry Keys
Download netman-svc.zip, extract and run the enclosed REG file. Be sure to run the appropriate REG file for your Operating System. The one prefixed with
w7 applies to Windows 7 and the other REG file prefixed with
w10 applies to Windows 10 computers. Restart Windows and see if you can start the Network Connections service. If the issue is unresolved, follow the next step.
Fix the Svchost Registry Key
- Click Start, type
regedit.exeand press ENTER
- Navigate to the following branch:
- In the right-pane, double-click the value named
- Check if the value data field contains the string
netman. If it’s missing, add
netmansomewhere in the value data field, as in the image below:
- Click OK.
- Restart Windows, and check if Network Connections service starts correctly.
The above method works in Windows 7 through Windows 10.
