  1. God bless you. I was able to restore the firewall on a friends computer and Microsoft Essentials was able to update as a result of your fixes…plus it didn’t take me all day by doing it manually.

  2. Restore Missing Base Filtering Engine Service (BFE) to Services MMC: I need this for WindowsXP, please.

  3. Outstanding ! it fixed “The open with error” that I had for two weeks and couldnt find anything to make it work.

  4. Thank you! I used solution 2 and it worked great, so easy! I just had to restart after the install was done. Thanks again.

  5. #14 BITS restoration worked like a charm. You have to download and open file, then restart computer. I was scared but based on positive reviews, went ahead. The author ramesh srinivasan .. I looked up and he appears ultra qualified, high integrity and intelligence; apparently with philanthopic instincts. I am extremely grateful.. he is an asset to the all mankind.

  6. Thank you very much!!!
Downloaded #14 to fix Background Intelligent Transfer Service. I was slightly hesitant as i searched for hours for a fix with no result but it worked a dream.

  7. Restore Missing BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service). Found this site. Took a chance and downloaded the executable fix. It worked. Faith in humanity restored.

  8. BITS fixed a problem stopping windows update from working. Tried to resolve it through many sites including microsoft. After 18 months and several attempts you fixed in in 3 minutes.
    Thankyou

  9. Would you be able to share any more Windows 7/8 services registry fixes please?

    Things like:
    DHCP
    Server
    Network Location Awareness
    Network Connections
    Network List Service
    Network Store Interface Service
    HomeGroup Service(s)
    DNS
    Print Spooler

And any others that may be affected by malware.

    Thanks :)

  10. Ran number 14 then had to run the MS fixit for updates but saved me from doing a reinstall!

    Bookmarking this site for sure.

  11. OMG, you are a genius. After talking to a bunch of imbeciles and weeding through bad advice on the internet on how to fix my problem re Windows Updates not working, I came to your site and your list of fixes and it worked. Thanks so much!!!!!

  12. Thanks a lot.I am struggling with BITS service error from last 3 months.now it is fixed.once again thanks for this great help.and also this is a very good website.

  13. #1 fixed my windows 7 installer problems… Tried everything else before, nothing worked.
This worked!!! Use with confidence. Thank’s for this… Adrian

  14. Thanks for the fixes. Good stuff.

Suggestion – Windows defender will not run getting ”Access is denied. (Error Code 0x80070005)’ messages. If you try to start it from services you get “‘Windows could not start the Windows Defender service on Local Computer.Error 126: The specified module could not be found.'”

Defender should be able to start, only Sophos AV installed which should be compatible (apparently). This occurred after a virus on the PC.

  15. Hello,
A very good site that could save my life … on a Vista computer.
I have to repair a Vista computer that was hit by a virus problem. Security Center and Windowsupdate no longer works. I saw that the keys of the registry have been erased. Have you the keys of the registry to repair BITS and wscsvc for Vista?
    thank you

  16. Error 1719 Windows Installer Service Could Not be Accessed, when installing applications.

    and

    Windows Installer Service missing

    Are magical! Thank you.

  17. Ramesh – you are a legend!

I’ve fixed the MSI installer issue on many xp/vista machines with little hassle by installing the 4.5 MSI from microsoft, but a customer had brought me a 7 machine suffering the MSI issues, and after following various microsoft guides and advice from other forums- not to mention all the usual tricks of registery edits and reregistering the MSI server via an elevated cmd prompt – nothing had worked!

Then I found your registery fixes, ran them and bam! Problem fixed.

You’re website is now on my favourite list for when I get stuck in future. Thanks again.

  18. Ramesh , your “Windows Security Center Service missing after Malware attack” reg worked perfectly. Thanks for your post! Spent forever searching for a fix.

  19. Great, I’m having one request here for more registry tweaks in Internet Explorer context menu when right click in a page.

Would be terrific to build together different items to extended smaller groups.
Have been searching for software for this but it’s hard to find freeware for IE when looking for applications that can handle context menus.

Btw, does someone know if something been changed by updates et.c.
Tried to use your tip in reach Explorer and Regedit from IE in right clickmenu but cant make it to work and nothing opens up. Downloaded the files for regjump.htm, explorehere.htm. Followed the suggestion in the tutorial, both of the files has been placed inside C:\WINDOWS\Web folder together with the registry tweak but nothing happens after restarted explorer.exe in XP Pro Sp3 or restarted the machine. Perhaps they should be saved somewhere else? or do I miss something… hmm..recently reinstalled Windows so it should work, highlight text on webbpages works. Same with the copy paste feature, running scriptfiles seems to work as well running commands in cmd. No single clue of what it might be:) Well, it was really interesting to test it.

Thanks for good guides & tips, big pleasure to learn.
