Windows Search Error 1722: The RPC server is unavailable

When you attempt to start the Windows Search service on your Windows 10 or 11 system, the following error may occur:

Windows could not start the Windows Search service on Local Computer.

Error 1722: The RPC server is unavailable.

The net start wsearch command may show the same error:

The Windows Search service could not be started.

A system error has occurred.

System error 1722 has occurred.

The RPC server is unavailable.

Cause

The Windows Search error code 1722 (“RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE”) occurs because the Windows Event Log service is disabled.

Resolution

Launch the Services MMC by running services.msc.

Double-click Windows Event Log.



Set it to “Automatic” start.

Click Apply.

Click Start to start the services manually.

This should fix the Windows Search service error 1722.
