Cause

The “Password” option will be missing if the Windows Hello mandatory sign-in is enabled.

Resolution

To restore the missing “Password” option in Settings, do the following:

  1. Please open Settings, select Accounts, and click Sign-in options.
  2. Turn off “For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device (recommended)”
  3. Close Settings.
  4. Reopen Settings, select Accounts, and click Sign-in options. You should now see the “Password” option.
  5. Click PasswordChange, and then follow the instructions. You must enter your PIN. Then, click the “Forgot my current password” link to reset the password.
