Other Troubleshooters: This file does not have an app associated with it

When you open a troubleshooter from the Settings window in Windows 11, the following error may appear:

ms-contact-support://settings/SettingsPageTroubleshootAudio

This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page.

Cause

As you may have known, the msdt.exe is deprecated, and Microsoft is moving the troubleshooters to a new platform. You can read about it in the article Deprecation of Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT) and MSDT Troubleshooters.

You’ll need the Get Help app from Microsoft Store to launch the relocated troubleshooters. The Get Help app is preinstalled in most cases. But if it’s missing on your computer or you uninstalled it using PowerShell, the ms-contact-support:// association error appears when accessing the redirected troubleshooters — e.g., Audio troubleshooter.

Resolution

Open PowerShell as administrator.

Run the following command to reinstall the Get Help app.

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.GetHelp -allusers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Get Help app - reinstall via powershell

If the package is unavailable and you get an error message, download the Get Help app from the Store.

Visit the following link and click “Get in Store app”:
