Question
The SendTo folder in my user account is empty. This may have happened after using a junk cleaner application. I made a shortcut of the Desktop folder and put in there. Problem is, anything I send to the Desktop shortcut, is not made into a shortcut, but the whole file or folder is sent to the desktop. Any way to fix this?
Answer
The Desktop (create shortcut) is a special link. To restore the item, follow these steps:
Click Start, type the following path and press Enter:
C:\Users\default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo
Copy the file Desktop (create shortcut) from the Default user folder and place a copy in your user profile SendTo folder. The SendTo folder of your user profile can be accessed by typing shell:sendto in the Start-search box. Similarly, you can restore the other shortcuts that you want, from the Default user profile.
