Question
It seems like I've lost half of the long list of schemes available in mouse properties. I used a large arrow scheme before but now I use the smaller default system scheme one. This all started after I added "mouse pointers" in Windows components in add/remove programs. Any idea how I can get all the schemes back that I once had? Thanks, Bob
Answer
To restore missing mouse pointer schemes, download schemes.zip file, unzip and extract the file schemes.reg to Desktop. Right-click the REG file and choose Merge. The list of mouse pointer schemes are stored in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Control Panel \ Cursors \ Schemes
Note: The cursor paths are hard-coded for C:\Windows\Cursors. If you have installed Windows in a different drive/path, edit the REG file in Notepad and update the drive-letter / Path accordingly.
Hint: You may use the Replace All option in Notepad.
