Altering the functionality of the "internet" key
To map an application with the "internet" key, use the following steps:
- Start Regedit.exe and navigate to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ AppKey \ 7
- In the right-pane, create a String value named ShellExecute
- Double-click ShellExecute
- Set the Value data as the application's name
Example: To launch Calculator, mention calc.exe as the Value data. Note that you may need to include the full path of the program, if the program is located outside of the Windows / System32 folder or if it's not included in the PATH variable. It's better to use the full path always (Example., C:\Windows\Notepad.exe)
