Removing unwanted AutoPlay Handlers in Windows XP and WindowsVista

CleanHandlers - AutoPlay cleanup utility
When you right-click a CD drive or any removable drive and choose Properties, the AutoPlay tab lists all the
AutoPlay Handlers for each
Event. In some cases, an orphaned entry might appear there, as a result of
incomplete uninstall of a software (such as Music match Jukebox, Nikon View
etc). CleanHandlers helps you remove the invalid entries from the
listing. In addition, this utility can find invalid AutoPlay entries (see
Note #1 and #2 below) and also remove them automatically.
(For Windows XP and Windows Vista systems)
You may use this utility in the following situations
A junk entry appears in the AutoPlay window, sub-titled as <need provider> ( Fig 1)
Select an action to perform box is completely blank for an event (Fig 2)
To remove unwanted entries from the AutoPlay window.
Commands

| Delete | Deletes the chosen Autoplay handler |
| Refresh | Refreshes the list of Autoplay handlers |
| Scan | Scan for invalid Autoplay handers and creates a report |
| Scan and Fix invalid entries | Fixes invalid Autoplay handlers automatically. Registry backup is done before fixing the entries. |
AutoPlay Handlers registry location
If you plan to remove the invalid handlers directly from the registry, backup the key before modifying. The Autoplay handlers are present in the following locations:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ AutoplayHandlers \ Handlers \ <handler>
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ AutoplayHandlers \ EventHandlers \ <Event Name>
