We understand that the clicking sound is generated when you click a hyperlink in Internet Explorer. That&#8217;s obvious! Have you wondered why the clicking sound is generated even though you don&#8217;t click on a link? It could be possible that the page you&#8217;re viewing is set to refresh automatically after some time. <b>But that&#8217;s not the only action<\/b> that triggers the Start Navigation sound event.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>For example, when you visit a site that runs a lot of advertisements, and your HOSTS file or the Ad Blocker is blocking some of those servers, you get the clicking sound for each blocked (or redirected to 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0) address. I recently visited a website which generated the clicking sound at least 6 times (which means 6 servers were blocked\/redirected by my HOSTS file); I certainly want to disable this annoying sound.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/ie-nav-sounds-3.png\"><\/p>\n<h2>Disabling the &quot;Start Navigation&quot; Sound in Internet Explorer<\/h2>\n<p><b>Windows 7<\/b><\/p>\n<p>1. Click Start, type <b>sounds<\/b><\/p>\n<p>2. Select <b>change system sounds<\/b> option from the search results<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/ie-nav-sounds-1.png\"><\/p>\n<p>3. Scroll down until you see the <b>Start Navigation<\/b> entry, and select it.<\/p>\n<p>4. Select the option <b>(None)<\/b> from the Sounds drop-down list box.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/ie-nav-sounds-2.png\"><\/p>\n<p>5. Click <b>OK<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Windows Vista<\/b><\/p>\n<p>1. Click Start, type <b>sound<\/b><\/p>\n<p>2. Click <b>Sound<\/b> from the search results, and select the <b>Sound<\/b> tab.<\/p>\n<p><i>Alternately, open Control Panel, type sounds in the Search box, and click <b>Change system sounds<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<p>3. Set the <b>Start Navigation<\/b> sound to <b>(None)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>4. Click <b>OK<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Windows XP<\/b><\/p>\n<p>1. Click Start, Control Panel.<\/p>\n<p>2. Double-click <b>Sounds<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>3. In the Sounds Properties window, scroll down and select <b>Start Navigation<\/b> entry.<\/p>\n<p>4. Click the drop-down menu.<\/p>\n<p>5.
