You can temporarily preview the desktop by moving the mouse pointer over the Show desktop button near the taskbar notification area.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/aeropeek1.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The default hover delay is 1 second. If this time is too short for you, you can delay it furthermore to avoid accidental preview of the desktop. This can be done using a registry edit discussed in this article.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Increase Aero Peek Desktop Preview Mouse Hover Delay<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch the Registry Editor (<code>regedit.exe<\/code>)<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to the following location:\n<pre>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Advanced<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Create a new DWORD (32-bit) value named <code><b>DesktopLivePreviewHoverTime<\/b><\/code><\/li>\n<li>Double-click <b>DesktopLivePreviewHoverTime<\/b> and click <b>Decimal<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/aeropeek2.jpg\" width=\"345\" height=\"205\" \/><br \/>\n<\/b><\/li>\n<li>To increase the hover delay timeout to 3 seconds, type <b>3000<\/b>.
