You can change the default startup folder using the Windows Explorer shortcut properties, as you did in earlier versions of Windows.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In Windows 7, right-clicking on the Windows Explorer Taskbar icon will show the Jump Lists. To access the shortcut properties, hold the <kbd>Shift<\/kbd>\u00a0key down, right-click on the shortcut and choose <b>Properties<\/b>. The rest of the procedure is the same as in other versions of Windows.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/expl-path.png\" width=\"338\" height=\"152\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To change the startup folder to (My) Computer, use this target path:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"commandline\">explorer.exe ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}<\/pre>\n<p>Where the GUID <code>{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}<\/code> represents the My Computer folder.<\/p>\n<p>For the Documents folder, use this target path:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"commandline\">explorer.exe ::{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}<\/pre>\n<p>You may also suffix the full path instead of using GUID. For example,<\/p>\n<pre class=\"commandline\">explorer.exe D:\\Scripts<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6419 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/hand.png\" alt=\"hand point icon\" width=\"49\" height=\"27\" \/>Note that the above methods create a new explorer.exe instance every time you use it.
