Here is the error message verbatim:<\/p>\n<div class=\"err\">Windows could not start the [service name] service on Local Computer.Error 1083: The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>This article tells you how to fix the error <code>1083<\/code> and <code>1053<\/code> when turning on a Windows service which is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/view-resources-usage-each-service-svchost-windows-10\/\">hosted by svchost.exe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Fix Error 1083 &#8220;The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p>To fix Services error <code>1083<\/code> and <code>1053<\/code> in any version of Windows, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the Services console by running <code>services.msc<\/code> from Run dialog.<\/li>\n<li>Double-click the service that you want to start (but unable to).<\/li>\n<li>In the General tab of the service properties, note down the following:\n<ul>\n<li>The short name of the service<\/li>\n<li>Service <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/application-management\/svchost-service-refactoring\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">host group<\/a> name<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8351\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/service-error-1083-fix-1.png\" alt=\"fix for services error 1083 and 1053 \" width=\"406\" height=\"468\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Start the Registry Editor (<code>regedit.exe<\/code>) and go to the following branch:\n<pre>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Svchost<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>In the right-pane, double-click the service <strong>host group<\/strong> registry value. In this case, we&#8217;ve found the host group to be <code>LocalServiceAndNoImpersonation<\/code> for the Smart Card service.<\/li>\n<li>Add the service&#8217;s <strong>short name<\/strong> (in this case, its <code>SCardSvr<\/code>) anywhere in the multi-string value. Refer to the following image.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8350\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/service-error-1083-fix-2.png\" alt=\"fix for services error 1083 and 1053 - windows registry editor\" width=\"586\" height=\"493\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click OK to close the multi-string value text box.<\/li>\n<li>Exit the Registry Editor and restart Windows.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"qt\">Service host group name is mentioned as an additional switch\/parameter for <code><strong>svchost.exe<\/strong><\/code>, and it&#8217;s highlighted in [Figure 1] above.
