If you start the Print Spooler service via the Services MMC, the following error will occur:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">A privilege that the service requires to function properly does not exist in the service account configuration. You may use the Services Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in (Services.msc) and the Local Security Settings MMC snap-in (Secpol.msc) to view the service configuration and the account configuration.\r\n<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-78256\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/spooler-1297-error.png\" alt=\"Print Spooler service error 1297\" width=\"737\" height=\"528\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The error 1297 (&#8220;ERROR_INCOMPATIBLE_SERVICE_PRIVILEGE&#8221;) occurs because of incorrect service configuration. <\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the Print Spooler error, run the Spooler service registry fix.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/spooler_service_fix.zip\">spooler_service_fix.reg<\/a> (zipped).<\/li>\n<li>Unzip and run the enclosed REG file. Click Yes to confirm.<\/li>\n<li>Restart Windows so the changes take effect.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>(The above REG file applies to Windows 10 and 11.
