The bottom pane, which shows the graphical view, may report the capacity correctly for each volume.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-77739\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/diskmgmt-wrong-volume-size-2.png\" alt=\"disk management wrong volume size\/capacity\" width=\"750\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Although the exact cause is not known, you can fix the issue using Diskpart.<\/p>\n<p><em>Note: Before using Diskpart or any other disk management tool, it is recommended to back up the data from the specific partition to an external drive, just in case.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>Run the following commands from an administrator command prompt:<\/p>\n<pre>diskpart\nlist volume\nselect volume E\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 -- In the above screenshot, volume E 's capacity is incorrect. So, we select this volume.\nextend filesystem\nexit<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>list volume<\/strong> output, note the volume number or the drive letter of the volume that is facing the issue. Then, select that volume using the <strong>select volume #<\/strong> command. Once selected, run the <strong>extend filesystem<\/strong> command.
