If Microsoft Paint is missing in your Windows 10 computer, you can reinstall it using Windows Features or DISM.<\/p>\n

Note that the information in this article doesn’t work in Windows 11. It’s because Windows 11 ships with the Store version of Paint.

Uninstall and Reinstall Paint in Windows 10<\/h2>\n

Method 1: Using Optional Features in Settings<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Click Start, Settings, and click “System”.<\/li>\n
  2. Click on the Optional features link.<\/li>\n
  3. Locate the program (e.g., Paint) you want to remove, select it, and click the Uninstall button. If it’s not listed, proceed to the next step to install the program.<\/li>\n
  4. To reinstall the program, click on the Add a feature glyph icon at the top of the page.<\/li>\n
  5. Type the name of the program you want to reinstall (e.g., Paint)<\/li>\n
  6. This adds the program to the list of programs to be installed. Likewise, other programs to this list if required.<\/li>\n
  7. Click on the Install button and complete the process.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The above procedure requires internet connectivity, as it uses Windows Update to download the required files.<\/p>\n

    Method 2: Using DISM<\/h3>\n

    To uninstall MS Paint using the DISM command-line in Windows 10, run these commands from admin Command Prompt:<\/p>\n

    \ndism \/Online \/Remove-Capability \/CapabilityName:Microsoft.Windows.MSPaint~~~~0.0.1.0\n<\/pre>\n
    To reinstall it, run:<\/p>\n
    \ndism \/Online \/add-Capability \/CapabilityName:Microsoft.Windows.MSPaint~~~~0.0.1.0\n<\/pre>\n
    You should see the following output:<\/p>\n
    \nDeployment Image Servicing and Management tool\nVersion: 10.0.xxxxx.xxx\n\nImage Version: 10.0.19041.xxx\n\n[==========================100.0%==========================]\nThe operation completed successfully.\n<\/pre>\n

    On some systems, the following error may occur when installing Microsoft.Windows.MSPaint~~~~0.0.1.0<\/strong> feature:<\/p>\n
    \nError: 87\n\nA Windows capability name was not recognized.\n<\/pre>\n
    In that case, use Method 3 below to install Paint.<\/p>\n

    Method 3: Using the Paint installer (official)<\/h3>\n
    Download the MS Paint installer from the following link:<\/p>\n
