Delete some files to free disk space then retry again.<\/pre>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-77068\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/hp-bios-no-disk-space.png\" alt=\"HP BIOS update - not enough free space\" width=\"750\" height=\"590\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The above error occurs if the EFI system partition has insufficient free space. The OEM BIOS updaters usually stage the BIOS update binaries in the EFI partition and install them during the pre-boot stage. The existing BIOS version is also backed up to the EFI partition during the process.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rp\"><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/we-couldnt-update-system-reserved-partition-error-windows-10\/\">[Fix] &#8220;We couldn&#8217;t update system reserved partition&#8221; Error updating Windows<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>Please free up disk space on the EFI partition by deleting unneeded font (.ttf) files.<\/p>\n<p>Open an admin Command Prompt and run these commands:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">mountvol Y: \/s\n\ncd \/d Y:\\EFI\\Microsoft\\Boot\\Fonts\n\ndel *.ttf\n\ndir Y:\\ \/s \/a &gt;c:\\dir.txt\n\ndir Y:\\<\/pre>\n<p>That should free up about 15 MB of space in the EFI partition.<\/p>\n<p>If you still can&#8217;t install BIOS updates, inspect the <strong>c:\\dir.txt<\/strong> file (created by one of the above commands) and see which files consume high disk space on that partition.
