Other schemes, such as &#8220;High performance,&#8221; &#8220;Ultimate,&#8221; and &#8220;Power Saver,&#8221; may be missing. This is normal on systems that support Modern Standby (S0 Low Power Idle).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-76308\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/power-schemes-missing-modern-standby-1.png\" alt=\"power options shows only balanced - disable modern standby\" width=\"750\" height=\"463\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can check that by running the command &#8220;<strong>powercfg \/a<\/strong>&#8220;. If it says the following, <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-hardware\/design\/device-experiences\/modern-standby\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Modern standby<\/a> is enabled:<\/p>\n<pre>The following sleep states are available on this system:\r\n    Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) Network Connected\r\n    Hibernate\r\n    Fast Startup\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>If Modern Standby is enabled, the traditional power states S1, S2, and S3 are turned off.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-hardware\/drivers\/kernel\/system-sleeping-states\">System Sleeping States &#8211; Windows drivers | Microsoft Learn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you need the additional power schemes anyway, disable Modern Standby.<\/p>\n<h2>Workaround<\/h2>\n<h3>Step 1: Turn off Modern Standby<\/h3>\n<p>To turn off Modern standby (S0 Low Power Idle), open an admin Command Prompt and run this command:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">\r\nreg add HKLM\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Power \/v PlatformAoAcOverride \/t REG_DWORD \/d 0 \/f\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Press Enter.<\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\">Note: If you later wish to undo (reverse) the above setting to reenable Modern Standby, run:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">\r\nreg delete  \"HKLM\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Power\" \/v PlatformAoAcOverride \/f\r\n<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<p>Restart Windows for the change to take effect.<\/p>\n<p>Open Power Options and see if the additional power schemes are shown.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Step 2: Run the Powercfg commands<\/h3>\n<p>If they don&#8217;t appear, run the following commands from an admin Command Prompt to add the missing power plans:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Restore the Power saver power plan:<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">powercfg -duplicatescheme a1841308-3541-4fab-bc81-f71556f20b4a<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Restore the High Performance power plan:<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">powercfg -duplicatescheme 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Restore the Ultimate Performance power plan:<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Restore the Balanced power plan:<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">powercfg -duplicatescheme 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e<\/pre>\n<p>Close and reopen Power Options Control Panel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-76309\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/power-schemes-missing-modern-standby-2.png\" alt=\"power options shows only balanced - disable modern standby\" width=\"750\" height=\"463\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"rp\"><strong>RELATED: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/what-is-ultimate-performance-plan-in-windows-10-power-options\/\">What is Ultimate Performance Plan in Windows 10\/11 Power Options<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you open Power Options, only the Balanced plan will be shown.
