One entry may be a random Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) string, and the other may be a number.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-76086\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/taskmgr-strange-guid-entry.png\" alt=\"task manager strange startup entry - a guid and a number\" width=\"750\" height=\"362\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The GUID string (starting from&#8221;<code>48904102-2daa<\/code>&#8220;) varies from system to system, as it may be randomly generated when installing a game.<\/p>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The two unknown entries, a random GUID string, and a number are not malicious. A game software (e.g., <em>Once Human<\/em>, <em>Almost Human<\/em>, <em>Summoners War<\/em>, etc.) that uses the <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.appsflyer.com\/hc\/docs\/nativepc-vanilla\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AppsFlyer SDK<\/a> has added them, but the cleanup was not done correctly.\u00a0The above AppsFlyer link states this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>When uninstalling your app, please make sure to remove the registry data from SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run. The Registry keys are <strong>AF_counter_[APPID]<\/strong> and <strong>AF_uuid_[APPID]<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The two startup entries will be present in one of the following registry key:<\/p>\n<pre>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/af_guid-counter-taskmgr.png\" alt=\"task manager strange startup entry - a guid and a number\" width=\"701\" height=\"216\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-76107\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>You can delete the entries from the registry using Regedit.exe or using Microsoft&#8217;s Autoruns tool.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sysinternals\/downloads\/autoruns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Autoruns from Microsoft<\/a>, and run it as administrator.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Find the two entries in the &#8220;Logon&#8221; tab and delete them.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For detailed information, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/task-manager-startup-tab-entries-remove-invalid\/\">How to Remove Invalid Entries from the Task Manager Startup tab<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Suppose Autoruns doesn&#8217;t see the two entries; open Task Manager and enable them in the Startup tab.
