{"id":75739,"date":"2024-06-30T11:25:39","date_gmt":"2024-06-30T05:55:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=75739"},"modified":"2024-06-30T11:25:39","modified_gmt":"2024-06-30T05:55:39","slug":"workstation-service-error-1075","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/workstation-service-error-1075\/","title":{"rendered":"Error 1075: Workstation service could not start"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When you start the Workstation service (<code>LanmanWorkstation<\/code>), the following error may occur:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Windows could not start the Workstation service on Local Computer.\n\nError 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.<\/pre>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75742\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/lanmanserver-error-1075-mmc.png\" alt=\"workstation service error 1075\" width=\"413\" height=\"185\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75743\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/lanmanserver-error-1075-1.png\" alt=\"workstation service error 1075\" width=\"750\" height=\"181\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As a result, your mapped network drives stop working and show the following error:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">An error occurred while reconnecting to Z:\n\nMicrosoft Windows Network: The network is not present or not started.\n\nThis connection has not been restored.<\/pre>\n<p>and<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">\\\\Media-PC is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.\n\nContact the admin of this server to find out if you have access.\n\nThe network is not present or not started.<\/pre>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The above error occurs if one of the Workstation service&#8217;s dependencies no longer exists. This may have been caused by installing and uninstalling SMB 1.0 via Optional Features or PowerShell. The system didn&#8217;t remove &#8220;MRxSmb10&#8221; from the dependencies for some reason.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To fix the Workstation service error 1075, open a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/open-elevated-command-prompt-windows\/\">Command Prompt (Admin)<\/a> window and run these commands:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">sc config lanmanworkstation depend= Bowser\/MRxSmb20\/NSI<\/pre>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">net start Bowser<\/pre>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">net start MRxSmb20<\/pre>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">net start NSI<\/pre>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">net start lanmanworkstation<\/pre>\n<p>You should see the message &#8220;The Workstation service was started successfully.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75741\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/lanmanserver-error-1075-fixed.png\" alt=\"workstation service error 1075\" width=\"751\" height=\"489\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\">Additional Note:The Workstation service is set to &#8220;Automatic&#8221; start by default in Windows.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-10-default-services-configuration\/\">Windows 10 Default Services Configuration<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-11-default-services-configuration\/\">Windows 11 Default Services Configuration<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>That should resolve the issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you start the Workstation service (LanmanWorkstation), the following error may occur: Windows could not start the Workstation service on Local Computer.
