These snaps can be straightened using Photoshop or other specialized digital imaging tools. If you&#8217;re looking for a free option, then you have the built-in Photos app or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-essentials-offline-installer-download-links\/\">Windows Live Photo Gallery<\/a> (part of Windows Live Essentials).<\/p>\n<p>These two free apps have an option to easily straighten skewed or crooked pictures.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>How to Straighten Slanted Photos<\/h2>\n<h3>Using the Photos app<\/h3>\n<p>The built-in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/reinstall-photos-app-windows-10\/\">Photos<\/a> app\u00a0<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">offers options to edit a photo, rotate,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/trim-crop-images-photos-app-windows-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crop<\/a>, convert from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/change-picture-to-black-and-white-photos-app-windows-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">color to greyscale<\/a>, and more<\/span>. To straighten a skewed image using the Photos app, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the photo or image using the Windows 10 Photos app.<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Crop<\/strong> or the <strong>Edit &amp; Create<\/strong> glyph icon at the top, and then click <strong>Edit<\/strong>. You can align a horizontal or vertical edge of the image with the grid lines to ensure straightness. Once you release the mouse button from the straightening slider, the grid lines disappear.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>For granular control, you can click on the straightening slider and use the left or right arrow keys instead of your mouse. <strong>However<\/strong>, the guiding gridlines won&#8217;t appear if you use the Up or Down buttons (instead of the mouse) to move the slider.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Once done, save a copy of the image and quit the Photos app.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not fond of the manual rotate option, then try the Windows Live Photo Gallery program. It has a button that straightens an image in a single mouse click.<\/p>\n<h3>Using Windows Live Photo Gallery<\/h3>\n<p>Windows Live Photo Gallery is part of the Windows Live Essentials suite, which Microsoft has now discontinued. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-essentials-offline-installer-download-links\/\">download it<\/a> from 3rd party sources, though.<\/p>\n<p>I had a couple of slanted snaps (taken from a moving car) lying in my hard disk, which I just straightened using Windows Live Photo Gallery. Before starting, make a backup copy of the original images in a safe location.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the photo using Windows Live Photo Gallery.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/archived\/slant_wlpg1.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"162\" \/><\/li>\n<li>If the editing options are not already available in the right pane, click the <b>Fix<\/b> button at the top.
