{"id":75683,"date":"2024-06-27T10:43:39","date_gmt":"2024-06-27T05:13:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=75683"},"modified":"2026-03-09T12:16:45","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T06:46:45","slug":"wlan-autoconfig-wlansvc-error-1068","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wlan-autoconfig-wlansvc-error-1068\/","title":{"rendered":"Fix: WLAN AutoConfig (WlanSvc) Service Error 1068"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When you start the WLAN AutoConfig (WlanSvc) Service using the Services console in a Windows 10 or 11 system, the following error may occur:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Windows could not start the WLAN AutoConfig service on Local Computer.\r\n\r\nError 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.\r\n<\/pre>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75686\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/wlanautoconfig-1068.png\" alt=\"wlansvc error 1068\" width=\"412\" height=\"473\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <code><strong>net start wlansvc<\/strong><\/code> command-line shows the following error occurs:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">System error 1068 has occurred.\r\n\r\nThe dependency service or group failed to start.\r\n<\/pre>\n<div class=\"rp\"><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wlan-autoconfig-error-193-0xc1-wlansvc\/\">WLAN AutoConfig Service Error 193 0xC1 (WlanSvc)<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The error code 1068 (&#8220;ERROR_SERVICE_DEPENDENCY_FAIL&#8221; means &#8220;The dependency service or group failed to start.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The WlanSvc service needs the following services and drivers to start correctly:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NativeWiFi Filter (nativewifip) driver<\/li>\n<li>Remote Procedure Call (RpcSs) service<\/li>\n<li>NDIS Usermode I\/O Protocol (Ndisuio) driver<\/li>\n<li>Windows Connection Manager (wcmsvc) service<\/li>\n<li>Network Store Interface Service (nsi) service<\/li>\n<li>NSI Proxy Service Driver (nsiproxy) driver.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If one of the above doesn&#8217;t start, the WLAN AutoConfig service shows the error code <code>1068<\/code>.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the WLAN AutoConfig service error 1068, start the dependency services.<\/p>\n<p>From an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/open-elevated-command-prompt-windows\/\">admin Command Prompt<\/a>, run the following commands:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">sc.exe config ndisuio start= demand\r\nsc.exe config nativewifip= demand\r\nsc.exe config nsiproxy start= system\r\nsc.exe config nsi start= auto\r\nsc.exe config Wcmsvc start= auto\r\nsc.exe config wlansvc start= auto\r\n<\/pre>\n<p><em>(You should see the message <strong>[SC] ChangeServiceConfig SUCCESS<\/strong> in the output for each of the above commands.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Restart Windows.<\/p>\n<p>If the WLAN AutoConfig service doesn&#8217;t start automatically after a restart, run the following commands and note the output.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">net start ndisuio\r\nnet start nativewifip\r\nnet start nsiproxy\r\nnet start nsi\r\nnet start Wcmsvc\r\nnet start wlansvc\r\n<\/pre>\n<div class=\"rp\"><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wlan-autoconfig-wlansvc-service-error-3\/\">Fix: WLAN AutoConfig (WlanSvc) Service Error 3<\/a><\/div>\n<p>That should start the WLAN AutoConfig service.
