Also, the notification &#8220;Some of the settings are managed by your organization.&#8221; appears at the top of the Settings window.<\/p>\n<p>This happens if the &#8220;Allow Widgets&#8221; policy is enabled in the group policy or the registry.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75657\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/widgets-greyed-out-taskbar.png\" alt=\"widgets grayed out in taskbar settings\" width=\"751\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To remove the Widgets policy so that you can turn Widgets on or off via Taskbar settings, open an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/open-elevated-command-prompt-windows\/\">admin Command Prompt<\/a> and run the following command:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">reg delete \"HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Dsh\" \/v \"AllowNewsAndInterests\" \/f<\/pre>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve enabled the policy in the local group policy editor (in Windows 11 Pro or higher), you must set it to &#8220;Not configured.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The policy is located at:<\/p>\n<pre>Computer Configuration &gt; Administrative Templates &gt; Windows Components &gt; Widgets.<\/pre>\n<p>Double-click &#8220;Allow Widgets&#8221; and set it to &#8220;Not configured&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>You should now be able to enable or turn off Widgets via Settings \u2192 Personalization \u2192 Taskbar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you open Taskbar settings in the Settings app, the Widgets toggle button may be grayed out.
