When you open Taskbar settings in the Settings app, the Widgets toggle button may be grayed out. Also, the notification “Some of the settings are managed by your organization.” appears at the top of the Settings window.<\/p>\n

This happens if the “Allow Widgets” policy is enabled in the group policy or the registry.<\/p>\n

Resolution<\/h2>\n

To remove the Widgets policy so that you can turn Widgets on or off via Taskbar settings, open an admin Command Prompt<\/a> and run the following command:<\/p>\n

reg delete \"HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Dsh\" \/v \"AllowNewsAndInterests\" \/f<\/pre>\n
If you’ve enabled the policy in the local group policy editor (in Windows 11 Pro or higher), you must set it to “Not configured.”<\/p>\n
The policy is located at:<\/p>\n
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Widgets.<\/pre>\n
Double-click “Allow Widgets” and set it to “Not configured”.<\/p>\n
You should now be able to enable or turn off Widgets via Settings \u2192 Personalization \u2192 Taskbar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
