Error code 0x801901F4 (HTTP_STATUS_SERVER_ERROR 500) usually occurs when you attempt to open a website with a malformed address or the URL has reserved characters.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75446\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/error-0x801901F4-wu.png\" alt=\"ASUS incorrect System Model - Windows Update error 0x801901F4\" width=\"750\" height=\"224\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Resetting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/fix-windows-update-errors\/\">Windows Update<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/reset-winhttp-proxy-settings\/\">resetting the proxy<\/a> settings does not resolve the issue.<\/p>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The &#8220;System Model&#8221; name on some ASUS ZenBook and VivoBook systems have the suffix <strong>_&lt;!DOCTYPE<\/strong> that may have been added inadvertently during production.<\/p>\n<p>You can see that by opening the System Information Utility (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/msinfo32-generate-system-info-report\/\">msinfo32.exe<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/asus-system-model-msinfo32.jpg\" alt=\"ASUS incorrect System Model - Windows Update error 0x801901F4\" width=\"746\" height=\"331\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75449\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&lt;!DOCTYPE&#8221; is for declaring HTML document type and is used only on webpages. Not sure how it ended up in the System Model field in the firmware.<\/p>\n<p>Due to this, Windows Update uses a malformed URL and encounters HTTP error 500 (&#8220;HTTP_STATUS_SERVER_ERROR&#8221;). If you run <strong>Get-WindowsUpdateLog<\/strong> in PowerShell and analyze the WindowsUpdate.log file, you&#8217;ll see entries similar to the following:<\/p>\n<pre>9404  10056 SLS   Retrieving SLS response from server...\n9404  10056 SLS   Making request with URL HTTPS:\/\/slscr.update.microsoft.com\/SLS\/{9482F6B4-E363-43B6-B270-9A65BC822D77}\/x64\/10.0.22621.525\/0?CH=234&amp;L=en-US&amp;P=&amp;PT=0x30&amp;WUA=922.728.511.0&amp;MK=ASUSTeK+COMPUTER+INC.&amp;MD=ZenBook+UX393EA_%3C!DOCTYPE and send SLS events.\n9404  10056 Misc  StatusCode for transaction returned from WinHttpQueryHeaders is 500\n9404  10056 Misc  *FAILED* [801901F4] WinHttp: SendRequestToServerForFileInformation (retrying with default proxy)<\/pre>\n<p>So, instead of accessing the following URL:<\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\"><small>HTTPS:\/\/slscr.update.microsoft.com\/SLS\/{9482F6B4-E363-43B6-B270-9A65BC822D77}\/x64\/10.0.22621.525\/0?CH=234&amp;L=en-US&amp;P=&amp;PT=0x30&amp;WUA=922.728.511.0&amp;MK=ASUSTeK+COMPUTER+INC.&amp;MD=ZenBook+UX393EA<\/small><\/div>\n<p>Windows Update tries to access the following and encounters the error 0x801901F4:<\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\"><small>HTTPS:\/\/slscr.update.microsoft.com\/SLS\/{9482F6B4-E363-43B6-B270-9A65BC822D77}\/x64\/10.0.22621.525\/0?CH=234&amp;L=en-US&amp;P=&amp;PT=0x30&amp;WUA=922.728.511.0&amp;MK=ASUSTeK+COMPUTER+INC.&amp;MD=ZenBook+UX393EA<code>_%3C!DOCTYPE<\/code><\/small><\/div>\n<p>Due to this, Microsoft Store also causes the same error.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75447\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/error-0x801901F4-store.png\" alt=\"ASUS incorrect System Model - Windows Store error 0x801901F4\" width=\"681\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s an ASUS issue.
