Try reinstalling the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc0000020.<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75338\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/vclibs-33728-bad-image.png\" alt=\"vclibs uwpdesktop 33728 bad image\" width=\"477\" height=\"255\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The error may also occur for other DLL files in the above folder, such as:<\/p>\n<pre>concrt140.dll\nmfc140.dll\nMFC140CHS.dll\nMFC140CHT.dll\nMFC140DEU.dll\nMFC140ENU.dll\nMFC140ESN.dll\nMFC140FRA.dll\nMFC140ITA.dll\nMFC140JPN.dll\nMFC140KOR.dll\nMFC140RUS.dll\nmfc140u.dll\nMFCM140.dll\nMFCM140U.dll\nmsvcp140.dll\nmsvcp140_1.dll\nmsvcp140_2.dll\nmsvcp140_atomic_wait.dll\nmsvcp140_codecvt_ids.dll\nvcamp140.dll\nvccorlib140.dll\nvcomp140.dll\nvcruntime140.dll\nvcruntime140_1.dll\n<\/pre>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>Error 0xc0000020 (&#8220;STATUS_INVALID_FILE_FOR_SECTION&#8221;) means &#8220;The attributes of the specified mapping file for a section of memory cannot be read&#8221;. It indicates a bad file.<\/p>\n<p>This happens if some of the above DLLs are corrupt and show as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/find-and-delete-zero-byte-files-recursively-windows\/\">0-byte files<\/a> in the &#8220;Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop_14.0.33728.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe&#8221; folder.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the error, reinstall the Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop (x64) package version 14.0.33728.0 using the following method:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nirsoft.net\/utils\/advanced_run.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AdvancedRun<\/a> from Nirsoft and open a TrustedInstaller Command Prompt. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/run-program-as-trustedinstaller-locked-registry-keys-files\/#advancedrun\">See this screenshot<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>In the TrustedInstaller Command Prompt, run these commands:\n<pre class=\"cmd\">cd \/d C:\\Program Files\\WindowsApps\\\n\nren Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop_14.0.33728.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe VCLibs140UWP.OLD\n\nexit<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Restart Windows.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/apps\/Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop_14.0.33728.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe.Appx\">Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop_14.0.33728.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe<\/a> and save it to a folder &#8212; e.g., <strong>C:\\Appx<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>admin<\/strong> PowerShell and run the following command:<em>(assuming you&#8217;ve saved the .appx package in the folder &#8220;C:\\Appx&#8221;.)<\/em>\n<pre class=\"powershell\">Add-AppxPackage \"C:\\Appx\\Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop_14.0.33728.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe.appx\"<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Restart Windows.<\/li>\n<li>Try to launch the Microsoft Store app. <strong>Wait for a minute or so<\/strong>. The Microsoft Store app will reinstall itself.
