If the <strong>Y:<\/strong> drive is not assigned to any partition, the error occurs.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the issue, assign the drive letter for your EFI partition using one of the methods below.<\/p>\n<h3>Option 1: Use the Mountvol command<\/h3>\n<p>Open an admin Command Prompt and run:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">mountvol Y: \/s<\/pre>\n<p>The above command assigns the EFI partition drive letter Y. However, the drive letter assigned using this method is valid only for the current logon session and will be lost after a restart.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Option 2: Use Diskpart<\/h3>\n<p>Launch\u00a0the <code>diskpart<\/code> environment by running:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">diskpart<\/pre>\n<p>Type:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">list vol<\/pre>\n<p>Note the volume number of your EFI partition, which is always a FAT32 partition. Its size typically ranges from 100 MB to 500 MB, but there is no mandatory limit for the partition size.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">select volume #<\/pre>\n<p>(replace # with the actual volume number of the EFI partition).<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">assign letter=Y<\/pre>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">exit<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75309\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/efi-partition-assign-letter.png\" alt=\"diskpart - assign efi drive letter\" width=\"761\" height=\"540\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it.
