{"id":75269,"date":"2024-05-22T13:15:52","date_gmt":"2024-05-22T07:45:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=75269"},"modified":"2024-05-22T13:18:24","modified_gmt":"2024-05-22T07:48:24","slug":"wlan-autoconfig-wlansvc-service-error-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wlan-autoconfig-wlansvc-service-error-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Fix: WLAN AutoConfig (WlanSvc) Service Error 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When you attempt to start the WLAN AutoConfig service (WlanSvc) in Windows 10 or 11, the error code &#8220;3&#8221; appears.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Windows could not start the WLAN AutoConfig service on Local Computer.\n\nError 3: The system cannot find the path specified.<\/pre>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/wlansvc-error-3.png\" alt=\"wlansvc error 3\" width=\"397\" height=\"172\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75271\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you use the net start WlanSvc command to start the service, the same error occurs:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">The WLAN AutoConfig service is starting.\nThe WLAN AutoConfig service could not be started.\n\nA system error has occurred.\n\nSystem error 3 has occurred.\n\nThe system cannot find the path specified.<\/pre>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The above error occurs if the WlanSvc service registry settings are incorrect or the &#8220;<code>C:\\Windows\\L2Schemas<\/code>&#8221; folder or its contents are missing.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the WLAN AutoConfig service error code 3, follow these steps.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Fix the WlanSvc service registry settings<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/WlanSvc.zip\">WlanSvc.zip<\/a> and extract the contents to a folder.<\/li>\n<li>Run the REG file applicable to your Operating System (Windows 10 or 11.)<\/li>\n<li>Click Yes to confirm.<\/li>\n<li>Restart Windows for the changes to take effect.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"qt\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> If you get the following error when importing the REG file, ignore the error message. The main settings would have been applied correctly.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Cannot import WLANSVC.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry.
