You wonder why the upgrade procedure installed the wrong edition (i.e., Enterprise) and how to switch to the Pro edition.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>From the Settings app, a user clicks on the Microsoft Store link to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/upgrade-windows-home-to-pro\/\">upgrade to Windows 10 Pro<\/a>. However, after paying the $99, instead of installing Windows 10 Pro, the System screen showed that the system was running Windows 10 Enterprise.<\/p>\n<p>The system screen may also show that Windows requires activation. Attempting to activate Windows results in the error code <strong>0xC004C003 or 0xC004F213<\/strong> or <strong>0x803F7001<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">We can't activate Windows on this device because you don't have a valid digital license or product key. If you think you do have a valid license or key, select Troubleshoot below. Error code: 0xC004C003<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75226\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pro-upgrade-installed-enterprise-0xc004c003.png\" alt=\" pro upgrade-installed enterprise - error 0xc004c003\" width=\"750\" height=\"518\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(or)<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Windows reported that no product key was found on your device. Error code: 0xC004F213.<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pro-upgrade-installed-enterprise.png\" alt=\"pro upgrade installs wrong edition (enterprise)\" width=\"750\" height=\"370\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This happens even though the computer has a valid Windows 10 Home license and is already activated and the Pro purchase transaction is successful.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/pro-upgrade-receipt.png\" alt=\"pro upgrade receipt\" width=\"750\" height=\"611\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75229\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>It is a known issue that the Store app installs the wrong edition of Windows (e.g., Windows 10\/11 Enterprise Edition instead of Professional Edition) on some systems.<\/p>\n<p>However, you can fix this quickly using the generic product key and switching to Pro.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>If the Windows 10\/11 Pro upgrade transaction was successful and you received the invoice by email, you can activate Windows 10\/11 Pro using the generic product key.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click Start, and click Settings.<\/li>\n<li>Click Update &amp; Security.<\/li>\n<li>Click Activation.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;Change Product key&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Type the following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-10-generic-products-keys-list\/\">generic product key<\/a>:\n<pre>VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/activate-with-generic-key.png\" alt=\"activate windows 10\/11 pro with generic key after purchasing the license from store\" width=\"682\" height=\"322\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75227\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click OK.<\/li>\n<li>Click activate product when prompted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>That&#8217;s it.
