When you upgrade your Windows 10 or 11 Home Edition to Professional Edition by purchasing the Pro upgrade for 99$ from the Microsoft Store, it may install the Enterprise Edition on systems. You wonder why the upgrade procedure installed the wrong edition (i.e., Enterprise) and how to switch to the Pro edition.<\/p>\n

From the Settings app, a user clicks on the Microsoft Store link to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro<\/a>. However, after paying the $99, instead of installing Windows 10 Pro, the System screen showed that the system was running Windows 10 Enterprise.<\/p>\n

The system screen may also show that Windows requires activation. Attempting to activate Windows results in the error code 0xC004C003 or 0xC004F213<\/strong> or 0x803F7001<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We can't activate Windows on this device because you don't have a valid digital license or product key. If you think you do have a valid license or key, select Troubleshoot below. Error code: 0xC004C003<\/pre>\n

Windows reported that no product key was found on your device. Error code: 0xC004F213.<\/pre>\n

This happens even though the computer has a valid Windows 10 Home license and is already activated and the Pro purchase transaction is successful.<\/p>\n

Cause<\/h2>\n
It is a known issue that the Store app installs the wrong edition of Windows (e.g., Windows 10\/11 Enterprise Edition instead of Professional Edition) on some systems.<\/p>\n
However, you can fix this quickly using the generic product key and switching to Pro.<\/p>\n
Resolution<\/h2>\n
If the Windows 10\/11 Pro upgrade transaction was successful and you received the invoice by email, you can activate Windows 10\/11 Pro using the generic product key.<\/p>\n

  1. Click Start, and click Settings.<\/li>\n
  2. Click Update & Security.<\/li>\n
  3. Click Activation.<\/li>\n
  4. Click “Change Product key”.<\/li>\n
  5. Type the following generic product key<\/a>:\n
    VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T<\/pre>\n

  6. Click OK.<\/li>\n
  7. Click activate product when prompted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    That’s it. It should activate Windows 10\/11 Pro on your computer.<\/p>\n
