{"id":75155,"date":"2024-05-12T22:19:50","date_gmt":"2024-05-12T16:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=75155"},"modified":"2024-05-12T22:52:47","modified_gmt":"2024-05-12T17:22:47","slug":"snipping-tool-cant-find-pictures-folder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/snipping-tool-cant-find-pictures-folder\/","title":{"rendered":"Snipping Tool Error &#8220;Can&#8217;t find Pictures folder&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When you take a screenshot using the Snipping Tool, the following error may appear:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Can't find Pictures folder.\n\nFor help contact your admin or support person.<\/pre>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75156\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/snip-tool-cant-find-pictures.png\" alt=\"snipping tool can't find pictures folder\" width=\"741\" height=\"479\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>This error occurs if the Pictures or the Screenshots folder path in the registry points to an invalid location.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the issue, fix the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-10-shell-folders-paths-defaults-restore\/\">shell folder path<\/a> for Screenshots and Pictures folders<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch the Registry Editor by running <code><strong>regedit.exe<\/strong><\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the following branch:\n<pre class=\"registry\">HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\User Shell Folders<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>In the right pane, right-click <strong>{B7BEDE81-DF94-4682-A7D8-57A52620B86F}<\/strong>\u00a0and choose Delete.<\/li>\n<li>Also, verify if the <strong>My Pictures<\/strong> value points to the correct path.<\/li>\n<li>Log off and log back in.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>That should resolve the issue.\u00a0The GUID string <code>{B7BEDE81-DF94-4682-A7D8-57A52620B86F}<\/code> represents the <code>Screenshots<\/code> folder.
