{"id":75089,"date":"2024-05-06T10:10:49","date_gmt":"2024-05-06T04:40:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=75089"},"modified":"2024-05-06T22:08:43","modified_gmt":"2024-05-06T16:38:43","slug":"winver-user-name-org-name-owner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/winver-user-name-org-name-owner\/","title":{"rendered":"[Fix] Winver.exe &#8220;user name&#8221; and &#8220;org name&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When you open the &#8220;About Windows&#8221; dialog by running winver.exe, the owner name and the organization name fields may show the &#8220;user name&#8221; and &#8220;org name&#8221; placeholders instead of the actual user name and organization name.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75090\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/winver-user-org-name.png\" alt=\"winver user name org name\" width=\"460\" height=\"423\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This happens if the &#8220;RegisteredOwner&#8221; and &#8220;RegisteredOrganization&#8221; registry values are missing.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To fix the issue, create the RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization registry values.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch <strong>regedit.exe<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Go to the following branch:\n<pre class=\"registry\">HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Create a new string value (REG_SZ) named <code>RegisteredOwner<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>Double-click <strong>RegisteredOwner<\/strong> and type in your name.<\/li>\n<li>Create a new string value (REG_SZ) named <code>RegisteredOrganization<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>Double-click <strong>RegisteredOrganization<\/strong> and type in the company name.<br \/>\n<em>(If you prefer not to display the company name, you can leave it empty.)<\/em><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75091\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/winver-user-org-name-fixed.png\" alt=\"registeredowner and registeredorganization registry values - winver - about windows dialog\" width=\"665\" height=\"245\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Exit the Registry Editor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"qt\"><em><strong>Additional Tip:<\/strong> To remove the &#8220;user name&#8221; and &#8220;org name&#8221; placeholders without showing the owner name and company name, set an empty data for &#8216;RegisteredOwner&#8221; and &#8220;RegisteredOrganization&#8221;.<\/em><\/div>\n<p>Open the &#8220;About Windows&#8221; (<code>winver.exe<\/code>) dialog now.
