Also, if you use the Start menu search to find the proxy settings option, you may not be able to launch it.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-74964\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/proxy-missing-in-settings.png\" alt=\"proxy section missing in network &amp; internet settings\" width=\"741\" height=\"585\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The above happens if the Proxy settings are hidden using the &#8220;SettingsPageVisibility&#8221; policy.<\/p>\n<p>There is a group policy setting named &#8220;Settings Page Visibility&#8221; that allows administrators to hide specific settings in the Settings dialog and show only specified settings. It&#8217;s possible that the setting is enabled on your computer via a registry-based policy.<\/p>\n<p>This policy allows IT Admins to either:<\/p>\n<p>Prevent specific pages in the System Settings app from being visible or accessible.<\/p>\n<p>(or)<\/p>\n<p>To do so for all pages except the pages you enter.<\/p>\n<p>This article tells you how to remove the policy setting in Windows 10 and 11.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rp\"><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-update-check-for-updates-missing-settings\/\">Fix: Windows Update Missing from Settings<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To show the &#8220;Proxy&#8221; option in Settings, remove the <code>SettingsPageVisibility<\/code> group policy or the registry-based policy setting. Follow these steps:<\/p>\n<h3>Method 1: Using the Registry Editor<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Start the Registry Editor (<code>regedit.exe<\/code>)<\/li>\n<li>Go to the following branch:\n<pre>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\Explorer<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Right-click &#8220;<code>SettingsPageVisibility<\/code>&#8221; (if the value exists) and choose Delete.<\/li>\n<li>Next, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/switch-hklm-hkcu-regedit-go-to\/\">switch to<\/a> the following branch (if it exists):\n<pre>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\Explorer<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Right-click &#8220;<code>SettingsPageVisibility<\/code>&#8221; (if the value exists) and choose Delete.<\/li>\n<li>Exit the Registry Editor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"qt\">\n<h4>Using Command-line<\/h4>\n<p>To automate the above using command-line, open an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/open-elevated-command-prompt-windows\/\">admin Command Prompt<\/a> and type these two commands:<\/p>\n<pre>reg delete HKCU\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\Explorer \/v \"SettingsPageVisibility\" \/f\nreg delete HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\Explorer \/v \"SettingsPageVisibility\" \/f<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Method 2: Using Group Policy Editor (Pro and higher)<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch the Group Policy Editor (<code>gpedit.msc<\/code>)<\/li>\n<li>Go to the following branches one by one:\n<pre>Computer Configuration \u2192 Administrative Templates \u2192 Control Panel\nUser Configuration \u2192 Administrative Templates \u2192 Control Panel<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>In the above locations, double-click the &#8220;Settings Page Visibility&#8221; policy and set it to &#8220;Not configured&#8221;.\n<div class=\"newline\"><em>(If it&#8217;s already set to &#8220;Not configured&#8221;, set it to &#8220;Disabled&#8221;, click Apply, and then set it to &#8220;Not configured&#8221;)<\/em>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Exit the Group Policy Editor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"rp\"><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/gpedit-msc-windows-home-policy-plus\/\">Windows cannot find GPEDIT.MSC in Windows 10\/11 Home Edition<\/a><\/div>\n<p>Launch Settings now. The &#8220;Proxy&#8221; option and all other missing options should be visible in the Settings window.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> If you didn&#8217;t add the policy earlier, malware may have done so.
