Please update the app via the Microsoft Store library. However, the Num Lock notification still shows in this version.\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-74945\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/hp-caps-lock-notification-1.png\" alt=\"HP CAPS Lock indicator - on screen display\" width=\"699\" height=\"486\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-74944\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/hp-num-lock-notification-1.png\" alt=\"HP Num Lock indicator - on screen display\" width=\"710\" height=\"481\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A recent update to the HP System Event Utility may have caused this. This utility enables special function keys on supported notebook models to be programmed. For example, HP System Event Utility lets users press the Fn+ESC keys to view system information.<\/p>\n<h2>Turn off Caps and Num Lock on-screen indicator<\/h2>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t need the HP System Event utility, <strong>uninstall<\/strong> it using Apps &amp; Features.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click Start \u2192 Settings \u2192 Apps \u2192 Installed Apps.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll to <strong>HP System Event Utility<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the ellipsis button (with three dots), and click <strong>Uninstall<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-74943\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/hp-system-event-uninstall-1.png\" alt=\"hp system event utility uninstall\" width=\"620\" height=\"295\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>To uninstall it using PowerShell (admin), run:<\/p>\n<pre>get-appxpackage -allusers AD2F1837.HPSystemEventUtility | remove-appxpackage -allusers<\/pre>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\">\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> If you wish to reinstall HP System Event Utility, you can download it from the following Store app link:<\/p>\n<pre>HP System Event Utility - Microsoft Apps\nhttps:\/\/apps.microsoft.com\/detail\/9p4w8rfn9m2t<\/pre>\n<p>Check after a few weeks; HP might release an updated version of the System Event Utility with OSD notification feature removed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t want to uninstall the app, do the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click Start \u2192 Settings \u2192 Apps \u2192 Installed Apps.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll to <strong>HP System Event Utility<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click on the ellipsis (three dots) button<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;Advanced Options&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;Terminate&#8221;<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-74942\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/hp-system-event-uninstall-2.png\" alt=\"hp system event utility uninstall\" width=\"629\" height=\"425\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Alternatively, you can launch Task Manager and kill the &#8220;HP System Event utility&#8221; task.
