The following message appears at the bottom of the dialog:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">Your files, apps, and settings can't be kept because you've chosen to install Windows 11 using a different language than you're currently using.<\/pre>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-70886\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/in-place-upgrade-keep-files-grayed-out.png\" alt=\"keep personal files and apps - grayed out - wrong iso\" width=\"702\" height=\"555\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>C:\\$WINDOWS.~BT\\Sources\\Panther\\setupact.log<\/strong> file may contain the following entries:<\/p>\n<pre>Info ConX::Compatibility::CSystemAbstraction::TargetLanguageIsCompatibleForUpgrade: Target language en-GB is not compatible with the host language (lang.ini path: C:\\$WINDOWS.~BT\\Sources\\lang.ini).\nInfo CMismatchedLanguageChecker: checked MismatchedLanguage, found HardBlock.<\/pre>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The above happens when you use a different language ISO than what&#8217;s currently installed on the computer. For more information, see <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/openspecs\/office_standards\/ms-oe376\/6c085406-a698-4e12-9d4d-c3b0ee3dbc4a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LCID (Locale ID) | Microsoft Learn<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>Based on the setupact.log output, the user needs to use the English (US) ISO because it&#8217;s the host OS language.
