You wonder how to remove the unknown keyboard languages from the listing.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<h3>Step 1: Remove the unwanted keyboard layout<\/h3>\n<p>Using PowerShell, you can remove those unknown keyboard layouts automatically.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Start PowerShell as administrator.<\/li>\n<li>Run the following command:\n<pre>Get-WinUserLanguageList<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Press Enter.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-74749\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/qac-qaa-keyboard-remove-2.png\" alt=\"remove unknown locale keyboard from language bar\" width=\"662\" height=\"748\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"newline\"><em>(The Get-WinUserLanguageList cmdlet returns the current user language settings. These settings include input method, spelling setting, text prediction setting, and handwriting input mode.)<\/em><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>In this case, you may want to retain <strong>en-US<\/strong> and <strong>en-IN<\/strong> languages and delete the remaining ones. To do so, run the following command:\n<pre>Set-WinUILanguageOverride en-US, en-IN -Force<\/pre>\n<div class=\"qt\">Note: To retain only en-US, you&#8217;d type &#8220;<code>Set-WinUILanguageOverride en-US -Force<\/code>&#8220;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Now, click the Language bar to see if the changes are effective.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-74748\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/qac-qaa-keyboard-remove-3.png\" alt=\"remove unknown locale keyboard from language bar\" width=\"311\" height=\"340\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>That&#8217;s it! The English (United States) and English (India) entries are retained. The QAA-Latn and QAC-Latn entries are removed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\">\n<h4>Alternate method<\/h4>\n<p>Alternatively, you can use the <code>Set-WinUserLanguageList<\/code> cmdlet as below. The following removes the <code>qac-Latn<\/code> and <code>qaa-Latn<\/code> layouts.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"powershell\">\n$List = Get-WinUserLanguageList\n$List.Add(\"qac-Latn\")\n$List.Add(\"qaa-Latn\")\nSet-WinUserLanguageList $List -Force\n<\/pre>\n<p>At this point, you can open Settings and remove the QAA-Latn and QAC-Latn entries. To do that using PowerShell, run the following:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"powershell\">\n$List = Get-WinUserLanguageList\n$Lang = $List | where LanguageTag -eq \"qac-Latn\"\n$List.Remove($Lang)\n$Lang = $List | where LanguageTag -eq \"qaa-Latn\"\n$List.Remove($Lang)\nSet-WinUserLanguageList $List -Force\n<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<hr>\n<h3>Step 2: Prevent unwanted keyboard layout from being added<\/h3>\n<p>The next step is to stop the keyboard layout from being added after a restart.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Control Panel.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;Region&#8221;. If you&#8217;re in Category view, click Clock and Region \u2192 Region.<\/li>\n<li>Select the &#8220;Administrative&#8221; tab.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;Copy settings.&#8221;<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75581\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/layout-apply-sign-in-1.png\" alt=\"copy keyboard locale to sign-in screen and new users\" width=\"457\" height=\"591\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Select the &#8220;Welcome screen and system accounts&#8221; and &#8220;New user accounts&#8221; checkboxes.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75580\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/layout-apply-sign-in-2.png\" alt=\"copy keyboard locale to sign-in screen and new users\" width=\"457\" height=\"591\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click OK.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This copies the display language, input language, format, and location settings of the current user to the logon desktop and new user accounts.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it.
