When you right-click on a shell folder like Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Music, or Videos and click “Pin to Quick access”, nothing may happen. Also, the item is not pinned when you drag the shell folder and drop it in the Quick Access (Home) area.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, you may get the following errors when pinning a new folder to Quick Access (or “Home” in Windows 11.)<\/p>\n

A disk error occurred during a read operation<\/pre>\n
Unspecified error.<\/pre>\n
<folderpath> already exists.<\/pre>\n

The Parameter is incorrect.<\/pre>\n
\"quick<\/p>\n
In Windows 11, Quick Access has been replaced and is now called “Home”.<\/p>\n

Resolution<\/h2>\n
To resolve the issue,\u00a0reset Quick access<\/strong> using the following steps:<\/p>\n
The Quick access pinned and frequent items data are kept in a database file named f01b4d95cf55d32a.automaticDestinations-ms<\/code>\u00a0in the following folder:<\/p>\n
%AppData%\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Recent\\AutomaticDestinations<\/pre>\n
\"quick<\/p>\n
Type the above path in the File Explorer address bar, and delete this file:<\/p>\n
f01b4d95cf55d32a.automaticDestinations-ms<\/b><\/pre>\n
(or)<\/p>\n
Copy the following command and paste it into the Run dialog (Win<\/kbd>\u00a0+\u00a0R<\/kbd>) to delete the file:<\/p>\n
cmd.exe \/c del \"%AppData%\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Recent\\AutomaticDestinations\\f01b4d95cf55d32a.automaticDestinations-ms\"<\/pre>\n
This clears the custom pinned and frequent items listing in Quick access (Home). Windows regenerates this file immediately the next time you open File Explorer, listing the default ones.<\/p>\n
