{"id":70895,"date":"2024-01-25T12:55:06","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T07:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=70895"},"modified":"2024-01-25T12:56:19","modified_gmt":"2024-01-25T07:26:19","slug":"user-file-folder-icon-small-windows-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/user-file-folder-icon-small-windows-11\/","title":{"rendered":"User file folder icon appears very small in Windows 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When you access the &#8220;Change desktop icons&#8221; dialog and add the &#8220;User&#8217;s Files&#8221; icon to the desktop in Windows 11, the &#8220;User&#8217;s Files&#8221; icon may appear very small.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-70896\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/user-icon-small-1.png\" alt=\"&quot;User's Files&quot; icon appears very small\" width=\"750\" height=\"436\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, if you create a shortcut to the User&#8217;s Files folder, it appears correctly with the proper icon size, like all the other icons on the desktop.<\/p>\n<p>Resetting or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/user-icon-looks-regular-folder-windows-11\/\">changing the User&#8217;s file folder icon<\/a> to a custom icon (via Desktop Icon Settings dialog, launched by running the command, <strong>control.exe desk.cpl,,0<\/strong>) doesn&#8217;t help.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rp\"><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/user-icon-looks-regular-folder-windows-11\/\">Windows 11 User icon looks like a Regular folder<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The above issue can occur due to icon cache or thumbnail cache corruption.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To fix the User&#8217;s Files icon, clear the icon and thumbnail caches.<\/p>\n<p>To clear the icon cache, please use one of the methods in this article. Method 1 or 3 is preferred because it automates the task.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/how-to-rebuild-the-icon-cache-in-windows\/\">How to Rebuild Icon Cache in Windows 10 or 11<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the above doesn&#8217;t help, clear the thumbnail cache in addition.<\/p>\n<p>To clear the thumbnail cache, you may use Disk Cleanup (cleanmgr.exe).
