The Startup option lets you manage apps that start automatically when you sign in. Despite this issue, the Task Manager&#8217;s Startup tab may show the startup entries correctly.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>This happens if the following Policy key or some of its values have been accidentally deleted.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"registry\">HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\System<\/pre>\n<p>Another possibility is that the SettingsPageVisibility policy has been configured on the system. For example, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-update-check-for-updates-missing-settings\/\">SettingsPageVisibility<\/a> policy can be configured to hide or show only specific pages in Settings.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rp\"><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/taskmgr-startup-entries-disabled-automatically\/\">Task Manager Startup Entries Keep Getting Disabled<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To restore the missing &#8220;Startup&#8221; option in the Settings \u2192 Apps window, restore the missing Policies\\System key using the following registry file:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/policies_system.zip\">policies_system.zip<\/a>, unzip, and extract the two .REG files to the desktop.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re using Windows 10, run &#8220;policies_system_w10.reg&#8221;. Click Yes to confirm.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re using Windows 11, run &#8220;policies_system_w11.reg&#8221;.
