It may stall with the shield icon showing up or a blank page. This happens even if you&#8217;ve chosen the Cloud download option during the Reset.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-69951\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/sechealthui-blank-windows-11-23h2.png\" alt=\"windows security app UI - blank screen\" width=\"636\" height=\"504\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The above issue happens if any Defender-related services or registry keys are corrupted or if the services fail to start. In some cases, the Microsoft Defender Antivirus service and the real-time protection module may be fully functional even when the Windows Security app fails to load.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>Please follow the steps below to repair the Windows Security app and the Microsoft Defender service in Windows 11 23H2, 24H2, and 25H2.<\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\"><em>Note: Before modifying the registry, please create a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/create-restore-protection-point-rollback-windows\/\">System Restore Point<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/automatically-backup-registry-hives-windows-10\/\">backup the entire registry<\/a>.<\/em><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/fixes\/SecHealthFix_Windows_11.zip\">SecHealthFix_Windows_11.reg<\/a> (zipped)<\/li>\n<li>Unzip the archive and extract <strong>SecHealthFix_Windows_11.reg<\/strong> to a folder.<\/li>\n<li>Move <strong>SecHealthFix_Windows_11.reg<\/strong> to the <strong>C:\\<\/strong> root directory.<\/li>\n<li>Download <a style=\"font-size: inherit;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nirsoft.net\/utils\/advanced_run.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advanced Run<\/a>\u00a0and run it.<\/li>\n<li>Using Advanced Run, launch <strong>c:\\windows\\regedit.exe<\/strong> as TrustedInstaller.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-46172\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/advancedrun-start-regedit.png\" alt=\"advancedrun start regedit.exe\" width=\"541\" height=\"285\" \/><\/li>\n<li>From the Registry Editor (running as TrustedInstaller), import the file &#8220;SecHealthFix_Windows_11.reg&#8221;. This repairs the Microsoft Defender and Windows Security Service services.\n<div class=\"qt\"><em>For more information, see the article <a style=\"font-size: inherit;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/import-reg-file-as-trustedinstaller\/\">How to Import a .REG file as TrustedInstaller<\/a>.<\/em><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>From Command Prompt (admin), run these commands:\n<pre class=\"cmd\">DISM \/Online \/Cleanup-Image \/RestoreHealth\r\n\r\nSFC \/Scannow\r\n<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Restart Windows.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>See if you can launch Windows Security successfully.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-69950\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/sechealthui-ui.png\" alt=\"windows security app UI\" width=\"750\" height=\"656\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After completing the above steps, open Settings \u2192 Windows Update and check for updates. Install the latest Windows Security Platform Update that should be offered for your device. The Windows Security Platform Update will automatically update your Windows Security app and the DLLs.<\/p>\n<p>The above fix also resolves the error <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-security-health-service-started-stopped\/\">The Windows Security Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>(This fix has been last tested in Windows 11 25H2.)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After resetting your computer or performing a clean install of Windows 11, the Windows Security app may not load.
