The special icon for your user profile folder shows up only when you increase the icon size. If you increase the desktop icon size (i.e., you can use the ctrl + key combo to increase the desktop icon size), the user folder icon looks like a user icon.<\/p>\n<p>The user profile icon uses the icon imageres.dll, 123. The icon resource contains plain folder icons for smaller sizes &#8212; i.e., 16&#215;16 up to 64&#215;64.<\/p>\n<p>You may wonder how to fix this issue <strong>without<\/strong> increasing the size of the desktop icons.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rp\"><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/user-file-folder-icon-small-windows-11\/\">User file folder icon appears very small in Windows 11<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the issue, use a custom icon for the User profile folder.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/usericon.zip\">usericon.ico<\/a> (zipped), unzip the archive, and extract usericon.ico to your desktop.<\/li>\n<li>Press Win + R to bring up the Run dialog.<\/li>\n<li>Type the following command exactly:\n<pre>control desk.cpl,,0<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Press Enter.<br \/>\n(This opens the Desktop Icon Settings dialog.)<\/li>\n<li>Click on your User icon, and click &#8220;<strong>Change Icon<\/strong>&#8220;.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-68033\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/user-icon-custom.png\" alt=\"change user profile icon\" width=\"400\" height=\"455\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Browse and select <strong>usericon.ico<\/strong>, which you downloaded in Step 1.<\/li>\n<li>Click Apply, OK.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>That should do the trick!
