Error: 0xC1420121\n<\/pre>\n<h2>Cause<\/h2>\n<p>The error 0xc1420121 occurs if the wimmount.sys driver or its registration is missing from the system. This prevents WIM files from being mounted and thus causes the error during the setup.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Error Code\u00a0 : 0xc1420121<\/li>\n<li>Description : The image could not be mounted because the wimmount.sys driver is not installed on this machine. To fix this error, install the wimmount.sys driver.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Running these commands from admin Command Prompt should show the status of the wimmount driver\/service:<\/p>\n<pre>sc.exe qc WimMount &amp; sc.exe query WimMount\n\ndir C:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\wimmount.sys\n\nnet start wimmount<\/pre>\n<p>If you get the error &#8220;<strong>The specified service does not exist as an installed service<\/strong>&#8220;, that explains the problem.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To fix the Windows setup error 0xc1420121, restore the missing wimmount service registration.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/wimmount.zip\">wimmount.reg<\/a> (zipped), unzip, and run it. Click Yes to confirm.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Restart Windows. <strong>Note<\/strong> that shutting down the unit and powering it on will <strong>NOT<\/strong> help.
