To prevent the aforementioned issues, use other methods, such as the Media Creation Tool or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-10-iso-direct-download-mct-useragent\/\">the ISO<\/a>, to do an in-place upgrade to Windows 11.<\/p>\n<p>Download the <a title=\"www.microsoft.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/software-download\/windows11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Windows 11 ISO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Right-click on the ISO and choose Mount. It&#8217;s assigned a drive letter.<\/p>\n<p>Run setup.exe.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-52813\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/windows_11_iso_mounted.png\" alt=\"windows 10\/11 iso setup.exe\" width=\"399\" height=\"247\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the initial screen of the Setup dialog, click \u201cChange how Setup downloads updates\u201d, and click &#8220;Not right now&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-52811\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/setup_stuck_updates_check_1.png\" alt=\"windows setup stuck checking for updates - disable dynamic update\" width=\"702\" height=\"555\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>By clicking the &#8220;Not right now&#8221; option, you&#8217;re disabling dynamic updates to reduce the errors during the setup process and speed up the installation process drastically, especially on systems with a broken Windows Update feature. Refer to the article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/windows-setup-stuck-checking-for-updates\/\">Windows 10\/11 Upgrade Stuck at Checking for Updates<\/a> for more information.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Using an ISO or MCT (and disabling dynamic updates) is recommended if the Windows Update client on the computer is broken. One downside of disabling dynamic updates is that you need to install the latest updates via Windows Update after finishing the setup.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the in-place upgrade.
