This happens if a built-in Scheduled Task is disabled accidentally.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this issue, the keyboard input may work fine on classic win32 programs and web browsers.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Quick fix:<\/strong> To regain the keyboard input functionality in those modern apps, right-click Start, and click Run. Type <strong><code>ctfmon.exe<\/code><\/strong> and press Enter. This is a temporary fix that works only for the current session.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To fix this issue permanently, use these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click Start, click Computer Management<\/li>\n<li>Select Task Scheduler<\/li>\n<li>Go to <code>Microsoft<\/code> \u2192 <code>Windows<\/code> \u2192 <code>TextServicesFramework<\/code><\/li>\n<li>Right-click on the\u00a0<code>MsCtfMonitor<\/code> task, and click &#8220;Enable&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Exit the Task Scheduler and restart Windows.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This enables the TextServicesFramework monitor task. Text services such as input method editor, handwriting recognition, and speech recognition depend on the Text Services Framework.<\/p>\n<p>Note that running the Keyboard Troubleshooter will tell you whether this task is running. Click Start, Settings, Update &amp; Security and click Troubleshooting.
