A file containing error information has been created at C:\\Windows\\TEMP\\BitDefender Threat Scanner.dmp. You are strongly encouraged to send the file to the developers of the application for further investigation of the error.<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6041\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/bitdefender-dmp-error.jpg\" alt=\"bitdefender threat scanner error .dmp\" width=\"412\" height=\"185\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This error can occur even though you don&#8217;t have BitDefender Antivirus installed on your computer, but have one of these antivirus programs installed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SurfRight (HitmanPro)<\/li>\n<li>Ashampoo<\/li>\n<li>Qihoo<\/li>\n<li>TrustPort<\/li>\n<li>ArcaBit<\/li>\n<li>BullGuard<\/li>\n<li>Chili Security<\/li>\n<li>Emsisoft<\/li>\n<li>eScan<\/li>\n<li>EstSoft (ALYac, Roboscan)<\/li>\n<li>F-Secure<\/li>\n<li>G DATA<\/li>\n<li>HAURI (ViRobot)<\/li>\n<li>IMEN<\/li>\n<li>Immunet<\/li>\n<li>Lavasoft (Ad-Aware)<\/li>\n<li>nProtect<\/li>\n<li>PSafe<\/li>\n<li>Quick Heal (TS)<\/li>\n<li>SafeNSoft<\/li>\n<li>SecurityCoverage (SecureIT)<\/li>\n<li>SourceNext (ZSS only)<\/li>\n<li>Tencent<\/li>\n<li>ThreatTrack Vipre<\/li>\n<li>TotalDefense<\/li>\n<li>VirusChaser<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6042\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/av-comparatives.png\" alt=\"av comparatives list of av vendors\" width=\"700\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.av-comparatives.org\/av-vendors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">av-comparatives.org<\/a>&#8216;s\u00a0<em>List of AV Vendors<\/em> page, the above programs use BitDefender anti-virus scan engine. Note that some programs on that list use multiple scan engines in addition to BitDefender&#8217;s. Many anti-virus programs combine the Bitdefender engine with their own technology.<\/p>\n<h2>[Fix] BitDefender Threat Scanner .dmp Error in Windows<\/h2>\n<h3>If you use &#8220;Spybot Search &amp; Destroy&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>Spybot Search &amp; Destroy uses BitDefender engine but it&#8217;s not listed on the above <a href=\"http:\/\/www.av-comparatives.org\/av-vendors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">av-comparatives.org<\/a>\u00a0page.\u00a0If you&#8217;re using Spybot Search &amp; Destroy, use the following steps to fix the <code>BitDefender Threat Scanner.dmp<\/code> error:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open File Explorer and browse the Spybot program folder:\n<pre>C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Spybot \u2013 Search &amp; Destroy 2<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Check if a 32Kb file named <code>SDAV.dll<\/code> is present. <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.spybot.info\/showthread.php?74491-Recurring-pop-up-BitFefender-Threat-Scanner-errors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spybot KB<\/a> says that this file may have been removed accidentally by another antivirus or security suite installed on your computer. <strong>Update:<\/strong> Spybot&#8217;s support article says &#8220;This issue has been resolved in the latest version of Spybot.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>If the file is not present, download this file from \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.safer-networking.org\/support\/missing-files\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Missing Files<\/a>\u201d page on the SpyBot S&amp;D website and copy the file into your Spybot folder.<\/li>\n<li>If the file is present, please check the file to see if it is the same size as the downloaded file. (32KB). If the file has been corrupted, please replace it with the downloaded file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"qt\">\n<h4>Completely Uninstall and Custom Install Spybot S&amp;D<\/h4>\n<p>In case the above steps don&#8217;t resolve the problem, follow these steps listed by Spybot S&amp;D support team, as quoted by user &#8220;Marcel&#8221; on Spybot S&amp;D <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.spybot.info\/showthread.php?74636-Ticket-number-2017060480000256&amp;p=476629&amp;viewfull=1#post476629\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">support forums<\/a>. Posting that info below:<\/p>\n<p>If you are using the Free Edition, please uninstall then reinstall Spybot.\u00a0Before uninstalling Spybot, it is recommended to undo Immunization to avoid issues with the uninstallation process.<\/p>\n<p>It is also recommended to view Spybot&#8217;s Quarantine to restore any items you would like to keep that were detected by Spybot. Once Spybot is uninstalled, these files cannot be restored.\u00a0After Spybot has been uninstalled it is recommended to delete the following folders:<\/p>\n<pre>[On 64-bit\/x64 PC] C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Spybot \u2013 Search &amp; Destroy 2\r\n[On 32-bit\/x86 PC] C:\\Program Files\\Spybot \u2013 Search &amp; Destroy 2<\/pre>\n<pre>C:\\ProgramData\\Spybot \u2013 Search &amp; Destroy<\/pre>\n<p>Please note that the <code>ProgramData<\/code> Folder is hidden.\u00a0If you can\u2019t find this folder, please check your folder properties to ensure hidden files\/folders are displayed on your PC:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open Windows Explorer (or any folder).<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u201cOrganise\u201d, then go to &#8220;Folder and search options&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8220;View&#8221;, then select &#8220;Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You should then restart your PC for the changes to take effect.<\/p>\n<p>When you reinstall Spybot please go through with a Custom Installation. To do this, select the option for &#8220;I want more control, more feedback and more responsibility&#8221; in the Installation &amp; Usage Mode page of the Setup.<\/p>\n<p>Next, untick the box beside &#8220;Files necessary for antivirus scanning&#8221; in the Select Components window of the installer then complete the installation of Spybot.\u00a0This should prevent the Bitdefender file from being installed which will stop this error from occurring.<\/p>\n<p>For further help on this matter, open a support ticket with official Spybot S&amp;D Anti-malware and Antivirus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.safer-networking.org\/support\/ticket\/technical\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Technical Support<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The above seems to work for many users. One of the users on Spybot support forum gives this feedback:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I have tried this and it works fine again without ever causing the popup or any messages on shutdown. The Bitdefenderthreatscanner.dmp file is no longer created in Windows\/Temp anymore.
