It is a mode wherein Windows starts in a basic state, using a limited set of drivers. For example, if the problem doesn&#8217;t happen in safe mode, you&#8217;ll know default settings and basic device drivers aren&#8217;t causing the issue. Here is how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/start-windows-11-or-10-safe-mode\/\">start Windows in Safe mode<\/a>.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nSometimes you may find that Windows gets stuck in Safe Mode, and every restart leads you to Safe mode by default. Here is how to fix the issue and boot into normal mode.<\/p>\n<h2>Fix: Windows Defaults to Safe mode<\/h2>\n<h3>Method 1: Using MSCONFIG<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click Start, and click Run.<\/li>\n<li>Type <code>msconfig<\/code> and click OK.<\/li>\n<li>This starts the System Configuration Utility. In the System Configuration Utility, select the Boot tab.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a multi-boot setup, select your Windows installation from the list. Under Boot options, uncheck &#8220;Safe boot&#8221;.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6002\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/safemode-stuck-windows-10-2.png\" alt=\"windows 10 defaults to safe mode\" width=\"571\" height=\"385\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Enable the &#8220;Make all boot settings permanent&#8221; checkbox.<\/li>\n<li>Click Apply, and click OK. Click Yes when you see the following prompt:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6003\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/safemode-stuck-windows-10-1.png\" alt=\"windows 10 defaults to safe mode\" width=\"413\" height=\"172\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"err\">You have chosen to commit the changes you&#8217;ve made in the &#8220;BOOT&#8221; tab, which includes all current and previous changes. This will make those changes permanent, and you will not be able to undo the changes at a later time. Are you sure you want continue?<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Method 2: Using Command Prompt<\/h3>\n<p>Alternately, open an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/open-elevated-command-prompt-windows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">elevated Command Prompt<\/a> window and then type:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">bcdedit \/deletevalue {current} safeboot<\/pre>\n<p>This removes <code>Safeboot: Minimal<\/code> boot loader configuration. After running the command, restart Windows. Windows should boot into normal mode again.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Method 3: Using Windows Recovery Options<\/h3>\n<p>If you cannot sign in to your account via Safe mode, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/access-windows-recovery-environment\/\">boot into Windows RE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the login screen, click Shutdown, then hold down the Shift key while selecting Restart.<\/li>\n<li>Click Troubleshoot \u2192 Advanced \u2192 Command Prompt.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3098\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/winre-1.png\" alt=\"windows recovery options\" width=\"600\" height=\"464\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"qt\">\n<h4>Command Prompt is missing in Windows RE?<\/h4>\n<p>If the &#8220;Command Prompt&#8221; option is missing in Windows RE, Windows RE may have been disabled on your computer. In that case, you&#8217;ll need to create a Windows 10\/11 USB setup disk.<\/p>\n<p>Create a USB setup disk from another computer. <a title=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/software-download\/windows11\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/software-download\/windows11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Download Windows 11 MCT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Connect the USB setup disk to the subject computer and boot from it.<\/p>\n<p>Enter Windows Recovery Environment by clicking &#8220;Repair your computer&#8221; on the initial screen.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>In the Command Prompt window, type the following command:\n<pre class=\"cmd\">bcdedit \/deletevalue {default} safeboot<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>That should resolve the issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Safe mode is used to troubleshoot problems on your PC.
