{"id":59323,"date":"2023-07-11T15:04:18","date_gmt":"2023-07-11T09:34:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/198.58.113.91\/blog\/?p=59323"},"modified":"2023-07-28T23:55:09","modified_gmt":"2023-07-28T18:25:09","slug":"sfc-must-be-administrator-console-session","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/sfc-must-be-administrator-console-session\/","title":{"rendered":"[SFC] You must be an administrator running a console session"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When you try to run <code>Sfc.exe \/scannow<\/code> on Command Prompt to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/repair-windows-10-using-dism-sfc\/\">repair the system files<\/a>, the following error message may appear:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"err\">You must be an administrator running a console session in order to\r\nuse the sfc utility.<\/pre>\n<p>This may happen even though you right-click Command Prompt from the Start menu search results, and click Run as administrator.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve the problem, run Command Prompt as administrator using one of the methods listed in the article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/open-elevated-command-prompt-windows\/\">How to Open Elevated or Admin Command Prompt.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If the &#8220;Run as administrator&#8221; right-click option doesn&#8217;t work, try the Task Manager method, which works in most cases.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click on the taskbar and click Task Manager. Or, press Ctrl + Shift and Esc.<\/li>\n<li>In Task Manager, click the File menu and click Run new task.<\/li>\n<li>Type cmd.exe in the text box.<\/li>\n<li>Enable Create this task with administrative privileges.\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8845\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/03\/taskmgr-cmd-elevated.png\" alt=\"task manager -run command prompt elevated - create new task\" width=\"700\" height=\"326\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click OK.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This starts an admin Command Prompt window.
