It can be <strong>any<\/strong> feature or capability.<\/p>\n<h3>Example 1: Remove and reinstall XPS Viewer<\/h3>\n<p>For example, try uninstalling and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/install-xps-viewer-windows\/\">reinstalling the XPS Viewer<\/a>. The commands are below:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">dism \/online \/remove-capability \/capabilityname:XPS.Viewer~~~~0.0.1.0<\/pre>\n<p>Restart Windows.<\/p>\n<p>And then, run the following commands:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">dism \/online \/add-capability \/capabilityname:XPS.Viewer~~~~0.0.1.0<\/pre>\n<p>Restart Windows again if prompted.<\/p>\n<p>Then, run:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">dism \/online \/cleanup-image \/startcomponentcleanup<\/pre>\n<div class=\"qt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6419\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/hand.png\" alt=\"hand point icon\" width=\"49\" height=\"27\" \/>You can also do it the <strong>other way<\/strong> around &#8212; i.e., <strong>install<\/strong> a feature you don&#8217;t use, then <strong>uninstall<\/strong> it.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-79844\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winhelponline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/dism-cleanup-stops-20-percent.png\" alt=\"DISM StartComponentCleanup stops at 20% or 70%\" width=\"659\" height=\"506\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Let&#8217;s say you never use Telnet client and it&#8217;s not installed on the computer. So, let&#8217;s install Telnet Client and then remove it.<\/p>\n<h3>Example 2: Install Telnet Client and Uninstall it<\/h3>\n<p>To install and then uninstall the Telnet Client, run these commands<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">Dism \/online \/Enable-Feature \/FeatureName:TelnetClient<\/pre>\n<p>Restart Windows and then run:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">Dism \/online \/Disable-Feature \/FeatureName:TelnetClient<\/pre>\n<pre class=\"cmd\">Dism \/online \/Cleanup-Image \/StartComponentCleanup<\/pre>\n<p>The component cleanup should now complete successfully (100%).<\/p>\n<p>If that doesn&#8217;t help, do an in-place upgrade (a.k.a. repair installation) by downloading the Media Creation Tool.
